The Beacon of Assurance

THE BEACON OF ASSURANCE

The captivating beauty of the Rainbow is enough to bring out a spark of absolute joy and transfixed admiration in the little child as well as the oldest of us. When the rainbow appears it is almost impossible for us not to notice and take a moment to stare. Many have seen and admire this wonder, this formation of colors so bright; distinctly painted across the sky; the artistic mastery of an Artist so great that with one stroke of his brush on the clouds; leaves an inedible impression on the canvas of our minds to the extent that many felt compelled to reproduce it in some form or fashion, for a lasting remembrance without ever understanding the significance of this finite work of art.  The Rainbow serves as a Beacon of Assurance for mankind and every living creature; all flesh, on the earth and a reminder for our Creator concerning His promise. Each time it shows up we are assured that God has been reminded to not destroy this world by a flood anymore. It is God’s way of letting us know that he has not forgotten His promise to all flesh and that He is keeping His word. This token, this mark, this flag, this sign, this vapor of evidence demonstrates the faithfulness of a God whose promise is not only good for the faithful; but is equally good for the unfaithful, unbelieving, wicked and unjust as well. Just as God spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying: “behold I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you and with every living creature that is with you, the fowl, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there anymore be a flood to destroy the earth”. God said: “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations. I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. It shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. The waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. The bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth” (Genesis 9:8-17). He is speaking to us today, reminding us with this Beacon of Assurance that He is a just God, worthy of our trust.

Noah trusted God, obeyed His command, faithfully doing all that God commanded him to do; thereby saving his household and receiving the blessings of God even the Beacon of Assurance for all. How about you, will you trust God today to guide you and take you through the rest of your life? The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Love you always, with the LOVE of the LORD. Be blessed.
