God SO loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3: 16). These are the words of Jesus himself revealing to us the nature and character of the only true and wise God as he tells of the unsearchable and fathomless riches of God’s love. God SO loved the world. It seems rather universal for mankind; that when our vocabulary fails us in describing the magnitude of certain things and or situation we resort to the unfathomable SO. It was so big, so strong, so small, so weak, so long, so short, so proud, so dirty, so clean. How much do I love thee; let me count the ways: I love you SO much. But with us, even when we use this unfathomable SO, the person to whom it is directed may remain skeptical and or disagree with the nature of the description as given. There is no assurance of the truth thereof. With God it’s different. He affirms this truth with a gift that none of us can deny, refuse, alter or change. He gives us an irrefutable cause to believe and providing us with such a host of witnesses and circumstances that we must always conclude that God SO loved us. He who made the statement is God Himself the very Gift of Love to mankind, Jesus the Christ.
The word “SO” appears 1689 times in the KJV Bible; but on this one occasion it takes us into a revelation of our Creator: our Father’s feelings, desires, objectives and plans for his Children. It is an Adverb telling how God loves his Elect and must not be confused with the concept that God loves everybody. We are all born sinners with some of us: God’s Elect; according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Here the word “SO”: this Adverb affirms the Way, defining the extent, purpose and parallel nature of God’s love and his Gift of Love. This sets up this standard of love for comparison with every other standard of love. It is a Conjunction bringing together the manner, order and reason; giving the world an awareness of the height, depth, length, breadth, volume and density of the Creators Love. It is an Adjective, describing and conforming to the actual fact and Truth of God’s Love; disposed in His Divine Order. It takes the Believer beyond the Veil; providing a glimpse of the inner workings of the Infinite God and his Character, Compassion and Will. While at the same time maintaining the Mystery of He who is altogether divine, and commanding a desire in the Elect to get to the depth of the Truth and reach for the totality of the Promised assurance: Everlasting Life. We can think of a father’s love, a mother’s love, brotherly love, spousal love, love of self and many more standards of love, but none can be compared to God SO Love. A love for which lives were lost, lives are gained, blood is shed, men are martyred, the sun darkened, the earth quake, the rocks rend, the graves opened and gave up the dead who came alive once more. Hope is given and there is great rejoicing. For unto us a child was born, unto us a son is given: and the government is upon his shoulder: his name is Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, Jesus the Christ, Savior and Son of the living God. By this God SO Loved, we who were bastards and enemies of God are grafted in, given power to become Sons of God and heirs, joint heirs with Christ Jesus his Son. This love transcends all evil; making you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom, be glory forever and ever. “God SO LOVED the world”, therefore the LORD our God will be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us and give us peace.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. To him be glory, power and dominion both now and forever. “For God SO loved the world”. Hallelujah: Amen.
I Love you with the love of the lord. Be blessed.
